1. Study the skills and overall role of the job you're applying for.

Don't just see it as an accountant's job, but a position that relies team work, a position that requires admin tasks and the ability to use a certain program. Then, look at what skills you have that match all of these types of demands the job has to offer. This will make employers see the real value in hiring you.

2. Learn as much about the company as possible.

Get the facts on how long they've been in business, who their competitors are, why they are hiring...all of this will allow you to show how serious you are about working for that particular company, and not just drilling through as many jobs as possible.

3. Prepare for questions and answers.

There are many job interview questions and answers you might face in a job interview, but expect the important questions to be around your skills and experience in previous jobs, and how that relates to this application. The employer essentially wants to know that you've got the right skills for the job, and where your skills are lacking, you've got the right attitude to learn new things and push yourself forward.

4. Prepare your attire in advance.

The last thing you want to do an hour before the interview is realize that your shirt has a stain on the back, or that your skirt has ripped at the seams...with nothing to replace these garments! Make sure you have all your suitable interview attire ready the day before the interview, so that you don't get caught out when it's too late to do anything about it.

These simple steps will help you feel more relaxed and prepared when it comes to the day of the interview.
